History

Brief History

After 1947, due to various reasons, the twenty-two Panchayats and twelve Panchayat organizations of the traditional Panchayat system of Dhaka became extinct. As a result, a great void and stagnation began to prevail in the social life of Dhaka. Realizing this important issue, on 5th February 1965, the late Alhaj Abdul Majed Sardar called a meeting of the people of Dhaka in the name of Dhaka Citizens Association at the Dhaka Wanderers Club. The late Mohammad Sirajuddin, former commissioner of Dhaka Municipality, presided over the meeting.
